Vision Statement-2nd draft
As a child’s first teacher, I use a variety of
resources to encourage parent support and build a foundation of basic skills
and experiences that will contribute to the student’s development creating
life-long learners in a safe and caring environment.
HI Karen,
ReplyDeleteI really like your vision statement. I truly like how you want to create life-long learners in a safe and caring environment. I feel that this is so important as this is usually a child's first experience within a school setting. If they don't have a positive experience or don't feel safe and cared about they maybe turned off to the school setting from the start.
I'm going to post my comments for your SMART Goals here:
ReplyDeleteNow, I am no expert so everything that I comment on is coming from feedback that I have gotten.
First, here is the link for an online PDP toolkit. In the document you will find instructions on how to write goals, as well as an example at the very end.

Ginger made a suggestion on the phone this morning that our goals should be very broad. This way, if you have to tweak something you don't have to change the entire goal. You have stated great ways to meet and complete your goals. You are very specific in what you want to accomplish and that is good. I would say take a look at all the things you have stated you want to accomplish and create a broad goal that encompasses all of the activities.
Maybe something like this for your Goal #1: I would like to improve my technological capabilities in the classroom so that I feel more comfortable with my teaching tools and and using them to better my classroom environment.
I know it horrible, but something along those same lines. That way, if you don't make it to a certain class or you get a new piece of technology, you aren't stuck with specifics.
This would make an awesome SMART Goal!! I say you should double dip and use this as a goal also, especially since we are all a little vague on what our vision statement should be. I love having parent involvement at the early stages of schooling as your focus. It's almost as if you have to teach the parents as well as their children how school should progress.
