SMART Goals (brainstorming
ideas-October 19, 2010)
(added MEPD Strands-December 4,
2010)
- I will attend a SMART board class this school year so that I can enhance my knowledge of the interactive whiteboard capabilities. This will help me to improve technology and use SMART software in a variety of ways to enhance student learning throughout the Creative Curriculum objectives. My responsibility is to feel more comfortable with interactive whiteboards and to help co-workers by creating one lesson per theme/week.

- Learning in Community
- Best Practice Pedagogy
- Curriculum Development and Assessment
- Teacher Leadership
- I will apply meaningful age appropriate material by organizing my filing cabinet so that I can relate the 50 creative curriculum objectives to my lesson plans and be responsible for leading the entire 4k program. I will check myself at both parent teacher conferences (November and February) and create a portfolio so that I document the student’s strengths and weaknesses throughout the year.
- Teacher Leadership
- Democracy, Diversity, and Social Justice in Education
- Curriculum Development and Assessment
- Best Practice Pedagogy
- Educational Research
- Learning in Community
- I will research Down Syndrome and use my SpEd team to learn more about the SCERTS model and Autism so that I can become more knowledgeable in meeting my student’s needs. In the next 2 years I will work with families of children with EBD, ADD, and ADHD to create a list of possible modifications to use with children of special needs.

HI Karen,
ReplyDeleteI like how you have included how your goals will affect student learning. I think that this is something that I need to include with my goals. On your second goal I am a little confused by what you mean when you say you will 'check yourself'. I am thinking that it has to do with evaluating how you are doing with implementing the creative curriculum objectives but was not sure. I thought your goals were well thought out and followed the outline for SMART goal writing.
Your goals are really clearly written and concise- looks like you did some great work on Sunday! We missed you, and if there's anything you need help with, let me know. We spent a good amount of discussion time on SMART goals, but it looks like you're doing great in that department. Your goals are diverse and will greatly affect your teaching and students. Awesome!
