Signing Colors

One of my co-workers volunteered to teach my class sign-language for colors this week.  She and I together have a student who has down syndrome and has not yet learned to talk.  We are trying to incorporate her into my classroom more and more.  (She joined me every day this week for at least one lesson!)  My co-worker has begun teaching her sign language to communicate, and us as well.  Not only did the children enjoy learning sign-language for the colors, but then we practiced it along with one of our color songs that we know in Spanish, AND attempted to video ourselves to incorporate technology.  After we practice a bit longer, we're thinking of making a podcast to share with the parents.

  1. This is just one small step toward my SMART goal of learning more about certain disabilities.
